Acer Maple Laugh - print qualityAcer Maple is a new folk-soul project from Dave Austin and Danny Fisher and features “deeply evocative songs set against rich harmony and informed by the knowledge that sometimes the hardest grooves don’t shout too loud.”

Collaborators in various contexts for over 15 years, writer-producers Fisher and Austin resolved in the spring of 2009 to record some of their recent songs in a fully acoustic format and answer some of the creative urges that had been nudging at them for ages.

Through their aspiration to combine the influences of Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, Jobim, Nascimento, Donny Hathaway, Chaka Khan, Cassandra Wilson, Kelly Joe Phelps they honed their skills in harmony and arranging.

Their debut album “Early” features eight finely crafted songs, exquisitely performed by the wonderful Sharlene Hector and Michelle Escoffery and underpinned by the titanic skills and delicate sensitivity of Richard Spaven (drums – Jose James, Robert Mitchell), Neville Malcolm and Oli Hayhurst (bass) and Chris Eldred (keys).
